About

“Createdness is expressly created into the created being.”
- Heidegger

Emerging artist Penny Riddoch completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at Murdoch University and studied Visual Art at Edith Cowan University. Her work often revolves around issues associated with the environment and the bond between humans and animals. Black is used to create a feeling of void or isolation within some works, though the subjects may glow with prismatic colour. Human beings often see nature as something separate from themselves, denying not only their place in it, but also their obligations to the system as a whole.

Penny employs a variety of media, including purely digital work. Her current work explores biodiversity and fundamental interconnections within the natural world. She uses pen and ink to express spontaneous immediate experience and mixed media for more detailed analysis. The digital works utilise colour and colour combinations to evoke feelings of connectedness to the subject matter.
